Are you ready to explore a career in medical writing?

Got questions?
I have answers!

It's possible to enter medical writing without a science/medical background (I have!) but career options will be more limited, and you will likely need to bring some other communication specialty into your work. You are free to take this course if you're curious about the field, but be aware that the learning curve may be a bit steeper for you since the course is aimed at life science graduates.

Can I take this course if I don't have a science/medical background?

Yes! I know you're busy, so the course is self-paced. You can view the material and complete the action item workbooks whenever it's most convenient for you.

Is the course self-paced?

This course is intended for people looking to pursue a full-time medical writing role in a medcomms agency setting. It is ideal for people with life science backgrounds. Multiple people looking to transition their career have taken the course, including clinicians and pharmacists. While freelancers have taken the course and liked the content, it's not aimed at freelancers and does not cover the business side of freelancing.

Who should take this course?

Absolutely! This course covers the very basics of medical writing (what it is, where medical writers work, etc.) and gradually builds on this foundational knowledge. Medical writing can be a mysterious field, and this course demystifies it!

I know barely anything about medical writing. Can I still take the course?

The course is self-paced, and you are free to complete content whenever it's convenient for you. If you have questions, you have access to instructor support via the course community and via email. You can expect replies in the community within 2-3 days and replies via email within 4-5 days. The course does not include instructor reviews of your resumes or portfolios.

What kind of support will I get?

While you don't need to be Hemingway, you will need to have a grasp of basic grammar, spelling, punctuation, and feel reasonably comfortable as a writer. You should feel comfortable writing in English.

Do I have to be a good writer to be a medical writer?

This course doesn't focus on the mechanical aspect of writing (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.). The course assumes you already have a working knowledge of basic writing skills. However, more strategic aspects of writing will be covered, like understanding your audience and writing for the adult learner.

Will this course improve my writing skills?

The course content is dripped (released at weekly intervals) for 6 weeks. You can complete the course at your own pace. You have access to the course for 1 year with the option to subscribe monthly at the end of 1 year. (Though you hopefully have landed a position by then!)

How long is the course, and for how long will I have access?

That's the intention! And that's been the experience of multiple students who have taken this course. However, no course can guarantee you will land a job. You need to put in the effort and the work to see results.

Will this course get me a job?

While you have access to the course, you'll enjoy exclusive access to a course community where you can chat with other members, connect, and ask questions.

Is there a community?

Due to the digital nature of the product, there are no refunds for this course. However, I have not had a complaint yet!

What's your refund policy?

"I was so lost on what to do. Before Lindsay's insights, I used to apply for 10+ jobs weekly and received no response. But after using her template, I got THE response that ended up being my current job."

What students are saying

Job hunt successes!

- Aseel Hussain, 2023 MedWriter Career Launch student

"Some courses want to charge you two or three months' rent for the privilege of a bunch of information you could find yourself on the internet. But Lindsay is a real working medical writer, not a content creator. In addition to learning about how to do the work in medcomms, you'll learn about how to work with other professionals on a project — stuff that would take you months to figure out on your own. The self-paced online platform is perfect and it's fun to connect with other students on the community forum."

- Rebecca N, 2023 MedWriter Career Launch student

"Enrolling in the MedWriter Career Launch course was a game-changer for me. The comprehensive content, engaging teaching style, and practical insights provided the perfect foundation for my journey into medical writing. Lindsay shares industry-specific knowledge that not only equipped me with the necessary skills but was instrumental in securing my first job as a medical writer. Lindsay's course is more than just educational; it's a pathway to professional success. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone aspiring to thrive in the field. Thanks so much, Lindsay!"

- Crystal, PharmD, 2023 MedWriter Career Launch student

"Lindsay was so helpful and supportive during my job search, and has continued to offer assistance even after I got an offer. From the classes that offered advice on structuring my resume to the help she provided navigating my first position, I can't recommend her enough. I highly recommend making use of the community forum as well — Lindsay and others offer advice on writing styles for the medical writing focus you choose. With Lindsay's help on structuring my resume and cover letter, I was able to land a position that was a perfect fit for me. I still refer back to the classes as I prepare for my new role and learn what to expect."

- Kristen, PhD, 2023 MedWriter Career Launch student

"A fantastic course! For anyone looking to get their feet wet in the medical writing pool, I don't think it gets any better than this! It provides such a detailed view of the industry from an insider's perspective, and I can definitely say that it set me up with the knowledge I need to finally dive into this rewarding profession. Lindsay was an excellent instructor and I'm a huge fan of how she was able to teach us all about medical writing and the various quirks around it."
